Dr. Jana A.L. is born in a middle class Hindu family of Gujarat. She has a doctorate in management, degrees in education and a certificate in textile design. She has worked in the field of designs as well as education. Before taking up this project she has familiarized herself with Urdu and Arabic as well. All the paintings have been done on handmade papers made at Gandhi Ashram. Gujarat.

Jana has brain and spinal cord diseases called Syringomyelia and Multiple Sclerosis, and therefore has difficulties with several organs as well as limbs. The Paintings by Dr Jana A.L. presented in Sufi Art festival 2009 have been mostly done by her fingers, palms, sponges, markers, pastels and pencils, for she cannot hold paintbrushes peroperly.

However with the Divine blessings and miraculous mercy. herbal medications, strong determination and most of all, with the prayers and blessings by her mother and others her disease has not progressed as much as it is generally expected to in such diagnosis.
